Description
If you think this looks like just a piece of tubing then your only half correct. Its a piece of tubing that has been hand turned down to match the dimensions of an M212 40mm Launcher Shell then finished off with a nice polish. Constructed from 4130 Seamless Tubing they make for an excellent shell wall.
Over the counter 40mm shells have a slight taper from top to bottom to help with chambering so when you construct a home made shell the straight wall nature of them can pose some insertion and extraction issues. We understand not everyone has the ability to turn down the OD of the shell material so we are providing them to folks that desire home made shells. Shells constructed from this Hybrid Material will drop in smooth and effortless and also provide a solid gas seal because of the tapered profile.
The only thing required of the user is to 3D Print the desired shell base and glue them into the bottom of the Hybrid Material. One can find the 3D Files… HERE
Print Projectiles for this material are labeled as “1.625×0.049 Hybrid Shells and Projos” in the files.
If ever any of the printed parts should fail, say a rim breaks, the Hybrid Material is still salvageable. Simply warm the shell up with a torch and push out the old printed base. Clean it up with some sandpaper and glue in a new base. Make a one time purchase of these tubes and have a shell that never truly dies!
Currently we at LauncherPope do not plan on selling the printed bases with the Hybrid Material, but if somebody does not desire getting to learn to 3DP we will consider making them and mailing them on a requested basis. To request, reach out to us from our Contacts Page.
NOTE: These are primary designed to fit 3DP Projectiles but Zinc Pushers from KAK do fit loosely. To make the KAK Zinc Pushers fit a bit more snug we recommend putting one small wrap of tape on the pusher before seating into the shell. That way the pusher will have a snug fit and you will not have to worry about it falling out.
